# Getting Started

New to Codifi? This section walks you through everything you need to start collecting field data — from creating your account, to setting up your first Project, to understanding how the underlying data structures work.

## A Quick Mental Model

Codifi has a few core concepts that show up everywhere. If you're hearing them for the first time, the [Glossary](/codifi-docs/glossary.md) is the fastest way to get oriented:

* **Library** — your organization's reusable building blocks (archetypes, fields, value lists, etc.)
* **Composition** — a complete Project template assembled from Library pieces
* **Project** — a real, active job using a Composition to capture data
* **Archetype** — the definition of a kind of Record (Site, Feature, Artifact, etc.)
* **Record** — an actual instance captured in the field

Library → Composition → Project → Archetype → Record. Once those click, the rest of Codifi follows.
