# Project Details Gallery

The **Project Details gallery** is a media gallery attached to the Project itself, not to any specific Record. It's where Project-level photos go — site overviews, crew shots, equipment, anything that documents the Project as a whole rather than a particular finding.

## When to use the Project Details gallery vs a Record's gallery

| Photo of… | Goes into… |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| A specific feature, artifact, STP, or any Record | That Record's media gallery |
| The site as a whole | The Site Record's gallery (if you have Site Records) |
| The Project area on arrival, the crew, equipment setup, weather conditions | **Project Details gallery** |
| Documentation that doesn't fit a specific Record | **Project Details gallery** |

Rule of thumb: if a photo answers "what does this Record look like?", put it on the Record. If it answers "what does this Project look like?", put it on Project Details.

## How to add a photo to Project Details

1. From the Project's map view, tap the **Project name** in the header.
2. Tap **Project Details** to open the Project-level Record.
3. Tap the **media gallery card**.
4. Tap **+** and capture or select a photo (same options as any Record-level gallery).

The photo lands in the Project's gallery and inherits the Project's file-naming policy.

## What's the same as a Record gallery

* **Step-2 metadata** — same fields as configured for media uploads on the Project. See [Capturing Photos & Media](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/capturing-photos-and-media.md).
* **File naming** — inherits the Project's naming pattern, with the archetype slot filled by "Project."
* **Queryable on the map** — Project Details photos appear in the Photos layer just like Record photos, with bearing arrows and optional viewshed cones.
* **Exportable into reports** — report templates can include Project-level photos with media tags.

***

## What's different

* **No parent Record context** — Project Details photos don't roll up to a child Record's documentation; they belong to the Project.
* **One gallery per Project** — there's no need to navigate per-Record. All Project-level photos are in one place.
* **Cleared less often** — a "Free Up Space" sweep that purges synced media affects the Project Details gallery too, but it's worth confirming nothing important is staged for upload before clearing.

## Common use cases

### Site overview photos on arrival

A photo of the entire site from the access road; a wide shot of the Project area; a "before any work" baseline. These don't belong on any single Record, but they document the day.

### Crew and equipment

A photo of the crew on the first day; the setup of total stations or the GPS rover base; trailers, vehicles, drone setup. Useful for Project reports that reference fieldwork conditions.

### Weather or condition documentation

A photo showing rain, snow, dust, or other conditions affecting the day's work. Documents why work paused or productivity was reduced.

### Sketch maps or hand-drawn references

A photo of a hand-drawn sketch map that's used across the Project but isn't tied to a single Record.

## Common questions

### Can I move a photo from a Record to Project Details (or vice versa)?

Not directly. You'd need to re-upload the photo at the destination gallery and delete from the source. Some Projects opt to leave duplicates in place rather than re-upload — depends on your deliverable's storage budget.

### Are Project Details photos visible on the map alongside Record

photos?

Yes — they appear in the same Photos layer with the same bearing and preview behavior. Their preview shows "Project Details" as the parent when you tap into the long-press disambiguation panel.

### Can I bulk-upload to the Project Details gallery from web?

Yes — the web app's Project workspace lets you bulk-upload to any gallery, including Project Details. Useful for adding historical imagery or pre-prepared graphics.
