# v3.0

**Codifi v3.0 is the major release that introduced** [**Hydra**](/codifi-docs/cross-platform-features/hydra.md) — Codifi's offline-first sync engine and one of the platform's two foundational proprietary technologies (alongside [Ripple](/codifi-docs/cross-platform-features/ripple.md), the formula engine).

## Headline Feature — Hydra

The marquee addition in v3.0 is **Hydra**, Codifi's new offline-first sync engine. Hydra is the reason a Codifi field crew can capture data confidently on a multi-day offline survey, the reason every Project and Record now carries a full activity history with platform attribution, and the reason changes flow between mobile and web in seconds rather than minutes.

What this means for field work:

* **Every change is durable from the moment it's captured.** Records and edits write to a local database before they ever attempt to sync. A crashed app, a dead battery, a forced restart — none of these threaten the data on the device.
* **Sync is event-based, not bulk-based.** When the cloud icon turns green, only the changes have moved across the wire. Days of offline work upload in seconds.
* **Cross-platform consistency is built in.** A change on the iPad in the field appears on a project manager's web dashboard moments after the cloud icon turns green — and vice versa.
* **The Activity tab on every Project and Record is automatic.** Every Hydra event carries who made it, when, on which platform, and from where, so reviewers and PIs always have the audit trail they need.

## What Else Was in v3.0

The v3.0 release was a substantial platform refresh built on top of Hydra. Beyond the sync engine itself, v3.0 set the foundation for:

* **The current mobile app architecture** — every subsequent v3.1 feature builds on the v3.0 foundation. The Records List redesign, GPS Widgets, LiveTrack, Annotation Tools, and QR Codes documented in [v3.1](/codifi-docs/release-notes/v3.1.md) all rely on Hydra-backed storage and sync.
* **Modern iOS support** — including iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI elements, Vision Camera capture, and updated location permission flow.
* **Cross-platform Activity history** — the Activity timelines visible on web and mobile both render from the same Hydra event stream.
