# v3.3

**Release Date:** August 23, 2026

The largest release of the year. Crews can now sync directly with each other in the field with no internet connection at all, signing in has been rebuilt around your organization's own identity provider, and the Projects that live on your device are finally yours to choose.

## Features

#### Nearby Sync **`Mobile`**

Two or more people working the same Project can now sync directly to each other, device to device, with no internet connection involved. Record a feature and your teammates see it while everyone is still standing in the same place, instead of finding out that evening when somebody reaches a signal.

Nearby Sync is enabled per Project and needs both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switched on for the whole session, though neither has to be connected to anything. Every device taking part has to be on v3.3 or later. A status indicator in the navigation bar shows who you are connected to. #### Your Device, Your Projects **`Mobile`**

Project membership and device storage are now two separate things. You choose which Projects are downloaded, and you can offload a finished Project without losing any of your access to it. Unsynced work always uploads first, so nothing is ever at risk.

A device carries up to ten Projects at a time. Anyone upgrading with more than ten will be walked through choosing which ones to keep. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/getting-in-the-field/managing-projects-on-your-device.md)

#### All-New Sign-In **`Web`** **`Mobile`**

Signing in now starts with your email address. Codifi checks how your account is set up and takes you to the right step, whether that is your password, your organization's identity provider, Apple, or Google. Accounts can be protected with multi-factor authentication, with a self-service reset if a device goes missing. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/getting-started/how-to-access-codifi.md)

#### Camera Compass and Live Map **`Mobile`**

The in-app camera can show a live compass tape with your exact bearing under the center marker, and the bearing you see is saved with the photo. It can also show a heading-up satellite map across the top of the viewfinder, with a cone that narrows and turns green as your compass reading gets more precise. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/camera-compass-and-live-map.md)

#### A Truer Compass **`Mobile`**

Every heading in Codifi is now referenced to true north, with the magnetic declination calculated for your exact position. Compass accuracy appears as brackets on the camera tape and as a number in the Live Data bar, so you know before you capture whether the reading deserves your trust. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/camera-compass-and-live-map.md#true-north-worked-out-for-you)

#### Magnet Snapping **`Mobile`**

Turn on the magnet while drawing and the crosshair pulls itself to what is already mapped: corners and edges of your Records, overlay features, and roads and buildings from a vector basemap. Your live GPS position is a snap target too. Points captured this way remember they were snapped, so exact geometry stays distinguishable from hand-placed geometry. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/draw-mode-and-editing.md)

#### Offset Capture **`Mobile`**

Collect points you cannot stand on. Aim at the target, take the bearing, enter a distance, and the point drops where the target is while you stay on solid ground. The Record keeps your actual coordinates and GPS quality alongside the bearing and distance you entered. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/draw-mode-and-editing.md#offset-capture)

#### Heading-Up Map Rotation **`Mobile`**

The locate button now cycles through three modes: center on your position, heading-up, and back to free panning. In heading-up, the map rotates so whatever is in front of you sits at the top of the screen. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/understanding-the-map-screen.md)

#### Draw Mode & GeoTools on the Web **`Web`**

Drawing and reshaping geometry at a desk now has its own toolkit. **Trace** follows an existing feature and lays points along it, the **magnet** snaps to Records, overlays, and vector basemap geometry, and lasso-select moves or deletes a group of vertices in one gesture.

**GeoTools** adds the geospatial transforms: smooth and simplify, an outline generated around a Record's children or its whole descendant tree with a buffer, and **Sketch Corridor**, which turns a transect line into a survey coverage polygon. **Shape history** keeps every committed version of a Record's geometry, with Ghost to preview one and Recall to bring it back. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/web-app/draw-mode-and-geotools.md)

#### Photo Lightbox, Rebuilt **`Web`**

The lightbox carries a details panel beside the image, so you can change a photo's Media Subtype or edit its Fields without closing it. Copy and Download always hand you the original file rather than the on-screen preview, and the open photo is written into the address bar so a link reopens the same image. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/web-app/working-with-media.md)

#### Batch Media Export **`Web`**

Export the media for any selection as a single zip, from either the Records list or the Media tab. A Media Log travels in the zip, and per-item failures are listed in a companion CSV rather than aborting the whole bundle. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/web-app/working-with-media.md)

#### Cleaner GIS Exports **`Web`**

The two confusable GeoPackage options are now a single Export as GeoPackage action that reads your current selection and filters. Records with no location are written to a companion CSV inside the same zip instead of corrupting the output, so the spatial layer stays valid in ArcGIS and QGIS. Esri File Geodatabase and Shapefile behave the same way. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/web-app/gis-exports.md)

#### Ripple Sequences **`Web`** **`Mobile`**

Ripple can now number things across an entire Project. Give a set of Fields a sequence group and each Field instance takes a permanent position in that run, repeater rows included. Positions are stable: if a Record is deleted later it keeps its slot, and the next Record takes the number after it rather than reusing the gap. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/cross-platform-features/ripple/what-ripple-can-do.md)

#### Raster Coverage Footprints **`Mobile`**

Raster layers can now be seen without being drawn. A labeled footprint shows which sheet covers which ground, so crews can tell which layer to switch on before loading its imagery. Raster layers also gained load guards and a fixed draw order, so imagery always sits beneath vector Overlays and your Records. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/map-overlays.md)

#### Media Subtype Guidance **`Mobile`**

Media Subtypes can carry guidance written by whoever built your Project. Where guidance exists, an info icon appears next to the subtype picker with a preview of what each subtype is for.

#### A Cleaner Way to Start a Project **`Web`**

New Project is now two steps. Choose the Composition your Project is built from, then give it a name and confirm. Splitting the choice out makes the Composition list browsable before you commit to one. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/getting-started/creating-a-project.md)

#### Photo Bearings and UTM in Reports **`Reports`**

Report templates can now ask a photo for its image direction in degrees, or converted to a cardinal, octant or sixteen-point label, and for its UTM easting, northing and zone. Alongside these sit a larger set of new functions covering unit conversion and list handling. ## Enhancements

* **`Mobile`** **Faster syncing** — a rebuilt sync path moves large Projects considerably faster, most noticeably on first download and after a long stretch offline.
* **`Mobile`** **A more honest Cloud Sync button** — it now expands to show live upload progress, separates media going up from media coming down, and surfaces stalled transfers instead of hiding them. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/getting-in-the-field/syncing-and-the-cloud-icon.md)
* **`Mobile`** **Delete media from the device** — anyone with the right permission can now remove a photo without going to the web app.
* **`Mobile`** **Leaner photos, same quality** — a sizing problem on our side was inflating photo files. Photos are now about half the size with no visible difference.
* **`Mobile`** **One Projects list across every tenant** — the separate tenant selector is gone. The Projects screen shows everything you have access to, labeled by tenant. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/getting-in-the-field/logging-in.md)
* **`Mobile`** **Project cards do more** — Project status and members are tappable straight from the card, and the Sync a Project sheet gained sort options and tenant labels.
* **`Mobile`** **Now supporting Bad Elf and an expanded range of Emlid external GPS receivers** — Bad Elf units connect reliably, and the Emlid Reach RX, RX2, RS4, and RS4 Pro pair straight from your device's Bluetooth settings. A Geode that sticks on Initializing now recovers on its own. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/mobile-app/mapping-locations/external-gps-devices.md)
* **`Web`** **`Mobile`** **UTM planar area and perimeter** — polygon measurements now match what ArcGIS reports, which matters for SHPO and contract acreage. [Learn more →](/codifi-docs/cross-platform-features/ripple/spatial-formulas.md)
* **`Web`** **`Mobile`** **A bigger map style toolkit** — the icon set went from 21 to 34 shapes with proper halos, and pattern fills went from 9 to 15 and now render on mobile for the first time. ## Bug Fixes

### Mobile

* Map layers no longer disappear after moving between the map and the Records list on iPad. The layer toggles and the map now always agree.
* The Records list keeps your scroll position and your search when you return to a Project.
* Project names no longer sit blank while a large Project finishes syncing.
* Creating a Record no longer needs a second tap, and the link and add-parent sheets keep their buttons visible at every sheet height.
* Take Photo opens the camera on the first tap from a Record's menu.
* Fixed a crash some iPhones hit the moment a photo was taken.
* A map left sitting idle no longer drains the battery.
* Media details no longer get stuck loading after a fast swipe through the gallery.
* The camera opens and shoots faster on older iPhones.

### Web

* Layer filters written in the style editor now apply on the main Project map, not only in the preview.
* Raster layers stay beneath vector Overlays and your Records however the map loads.
* The map opacity slider no longer snaps back while you drag it.
* Library references survive breaking a link, and custom Archetypes import into a Composition without losing their Fields.
* Grid column widths stay where you put them when moving between Modules and Compositions.
* Signing in with an account that has no tenant now explains what happened instead of looping on a blank page.

### Reports

* Images and QR codes now honor the justification and paragraph style of the paragraph holding the tag, so a centered paragraph centers the photo.
* HEIC photos that previously failed with a decoder error now render.
